I don't know why but I feel like this song is about a person who is madly in love with a man and they are in a relationship for a period of time then they break up. Leaving the narrator in despair because the man they're so desperately in love with was cheating on them. That is how I interpret the part where it says " I bet on losing dogs" because most people consider men dogs, and the narrator knew deep down the man would cheat but they bet on him not doing it. Thinking that it was All in their head. While later on in the song the narrator says " I always want you when I'm fine" and I interpret that as meaning whenever the narrator starts healing they always look through the so called "good times in the relationship and start missing them. I also think this way because in the song it also says" tell your baby that I'm your baby" which to me seems like another reason they broke up is because the narrator either found out they were actually just a side piece or that the narrator is the official partner but the man slowly started loving the side piece more than them. This is just the way I interpret the song.
